The Green Bay Packers enter the 2026 NFL season with a proven starting quarterback, an elite defensive centerpiece and more roster uncertainty than their reputation suggests.
Green Bay went 9-7-1 last season and reached the playoffs for the third consecutive year under Jordan Love. The season ended with a 31-27 Wild Card loss to Chicago, extending the franchise’s NFC North title drought to four years.
The Packers were balanced in 2025. They ranked in the top 10 in yards per play on offense and defense, produced approximately 9.3 expected wins and received a first-team All-Pro season from Micah Parsons.
The offseason created new questions. Green Bay lost 108 starts, changed defensive coordinators, moved on from Rashan Gary and several offensive-line veterans, and did not have a first-round draft selection. Parsons is recovering from a torn ACL, while Josh Jacobs and Tucker Kraft have also required careful injury management.
This Green Bay Packers 2026 season preview examines the roster, coaching styles, schedule, betting odds, fantasy targets, win total and final record projection.

Green Bay has enough high-end talent to win 11 games. The current roster also has enough transition risk to miss the playoffs in a competitive NFC.
What Happened to the Packers in 2025?
Green Bay finished 9-7-1 and earned the NFC’s final playoff position.
Jordan Love threw for 3,381 yards and 23 touchdowns. The offense ranked 10th in yards per play and second in third-down success rate, demonstrating strong situational efficiency even without dominant total production.
Josh Jacobs rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns across 15 games. Romeo Doubs led the receiving group, while Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft contributed in an offense that continued spreading opportunities.
The defense ranked ninth in opponent yards per play and finished sixth in total yardage allowed. Parsons recorded 12.5 sacks and earned first-team All-Pro honors.
Green Bay’s problem was creating enough disruptive production beyond Parsons. The defense did not generate consistent sacks or interceptions from the rest of the roster.
The season ended against Chicago after the Packers allowed 31 points in the Wild Card round.
Green Bay’s 9.33 expected wins closely matched its actual record, making a major statistical bounce-back less obvious than Detroit’s.
Major Green Bay Packers Offseason Changes
Green Bay’s roster remained recognizable at the skill positions but changed substantially in the trenches and on defense.
Important Additions
- DC Jonathan Gannon
- QB Tyrod Taylor
- DT Javon Hargrave
- DT Jaden Crumedy
- LB Zaire Franklin
- CB Benjamin St-Juste
- CB MJ Devonshire
- WR Skyy Moore
Important Departures
- DC Jeff Hafley
- QB Malik Willis
- WR Romeo Doubs
- WR Dontayvion Wicks
- LT Rasheed Walker
- OL Elgton Jenkins
- EDGE Rashan Gary
- EDGE Kingsley Enagbare
- LB Quay Walker
- CB Trevon Diggs
- CB Nate Hobbs
Gary’s departure is the largest defensive loss. Parsons already carried a disproportionate share of the pass-rush burden, and Green Bay did not replace Gary with a proven veteran edge rusher.
Hargrave can create interior pressure if healthy, but he cannot solve every perimeter-rush problem. Fourth-round rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton and Lukas Van Ness must contribute.
Offensively, the losses of Walker and Jenkins create new roles across the line. Jordan Morgan is expected to become the full-time left tackle, Sean Rhyan is moving to center and Anthony Belton enters the right-guard position.
Doubs and Wicks leave available receiving work. That creates opportunity for Golden, Watson, Reed and Savion Williams, but it also removes experience from Love’s supporting cast.
Green Bay Packers 2026 Draft Class
The Parsons trade left Green Bay without a first-round selection.
- CB Brandon Cisse, second round, No. 52 overall
- DT Chris McClellan, third round, No. 77 overall
- EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton, fourth round, No. 120 overall
- C/G Jager Burton, fifth round, No. 153 overall
- CB Domani Jackson, sixth round, No. 201 overall
- K Trey Smack, sixth round, No. 216 overall
Cisse enters an unsettled cornerback competition. His physicality and tackling fit Gannon’s defensive standards, but he must adapt to NFL route combinations and expanded zone responsibilities.
McClellan recorded six sacks during his final college season and provides needed interior size. He can become part of a rotation with Hargrave, Devonte Wyatt and Karl Brooks.
Dennis-Sutton is the draft class’s most important long-term variable. Green Bay needs another edge defender who can punish offenses for concentrating on Parsons. Dennis-Sutton produced 17 sacks across his final two seasons at Penn State and also demonstrated special-teams value.
Burton provides interior-line insurance, while Smack is competing for the starting kicking job.
The complete class is available through the official Packers 2026 draft tracker.
Matt LaFleur’s Coaching Style
LaFleur’s offense is built on creating similar initial pictures that lead to different outcomes.
His established principles include:
- Outside-zone rushing concepts
- Play action
- Pre-snap motion
- Formational variation
- Route combinations at multiple levels
- Designed quarterback movement
- Screen and misdirection packages
- Balanced personnel usage
- Aggressive sequencing after successful runs
LaFleur’s system helps receivers by creating free releases and crossing traffic. It helps Love by defining reads and moving launch points.
The challenge is execution when Green Bay cannot establish the run or protect long enough for deeper concepts to develop.
Jacobs averaged less than four yards per carry in 2025, and the offensive line now has multiple position changes. LaFleur may need to use more quick passing and spread formations while the new group develops.
Jordan Love’s 2026 Fantasy and Betting Outlook
Love has led Green Bay to the playoffs in each of his three seasons as the full-time starter.
He passed for 3,381 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2025, demonstrating efficiency without producing the volume required for an elite fantasy finish.
Reasons for Optimism
- Love is entering his fourth season as the starter
- LaFleur’s system remains intact
- Watson and Golden provide vertical speed
- Reed can win from the slot and on manufactured touches
- Kraft has returned to practice
- Jacobs keeps defenses committed to the run
- The early schedule provides manageable matchups
- Tyrod Taylor provides experienced backup support
Reasons for Concern
- Walker and Jenkins are gone from the offensive line
- Morgan is taking over at left tackle
- Rhyan is changing positions
- Doubs and Wicks are no longer available
- Kraft is returning from a torn ACL
- Jacobs is managing a groin injury
- The receiving rotation may remain volatile
- Green Bay’s late schedule is considerably more difficult
Betting outlook: Love passing markets are most attractive against zone-heavy defenses that struggle with play action. Downgrade him against elite fronts until the new line proves it can protect consistently.
Fantasy outlook: Love is a high-end QB2 with low-end QB1 upside. His efficiency is valuable, but Green Bay’s balanced offense and deep receiver rotation can limit predictable weekly volume.
Josh Jacobs’ 2026 Fantasy Outlook
Jacobs rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He also caught 36 passes for 282 yards and one score.
His rushing efficiency declined, but his red-zone role remained valuable.
Jacobs missed an August practice with a groin injury that is not currently considered serious. The issue still requires monitoring because he played only 15 games last season and Green Bay’s experienced running-back depth is limited.
MarShawn Lloyd remains the most talented backup, while Chris Brooks and other camp competitors can earn specialized roles.
Fantasy position: Jacobs is a volume-based RB2 with RB1 touchdown upside. His acquisition cost should reflect the offensive-line changes and current groin issue.
Betting variable: Jacobs rushing attempts may remain more stable than rushing yards. Yardage Overs require confidence in both his health and Green Bay’s line matchup.
Green Bay’s Wide-Receiver Competition
The Packers continue to operate without one traditional target-dominant receiver.
Christian Watson
Watson provides the best combination of size and vertical speed. His career has been repeatedly interrupted by injuries, making health and route participation more important than training-camp headlines.
Matthew Golden
Golden enters his second season after flashing explosive ability as a rookie. He has produced several strong camp moments and has the clearest path to becoming Love’s leading outside receiver.
Jayden Reed
Reed remains the most versatile interior option. Green Bay can use him from the slot, in motion and on manufactured touches.
Savion Williams
Williams offers size, athleticism and return value. His offensive role depends on route development and whether the Packers expand their use of four-receiver packages.
Skyy Moore
Moore provides return experience and depth. He should not be treated as a dependable fantasy option without evidence of consistent offensive snaps.
Best fantasy target: Golden
Best value target: Reed
Highest volatility: Watson
Deep-league target: Savion Williams
The distribution makes Green Bay’s passing game difficult to project week by week. A receiver can be valuable in real football without receiving enough volume to support a fantasy lineup.
Tucker Kraft’s 2026 Fantasy Outlook
Kraft is returning from the torn ACL that ended his 2025 season.
Green Bay activated him from the physically unable to perform list on July 31, and he has resumed limited practice work. That is an important step, not proof that he is ready for a full regular-season workload.
Luke Musgrave has also dealt with a neck issue, while several reserve tight ends have been injured or waived. The lack of depth could increase Kraft’s eventual opportunity while encouraging Green Bay to manage him carefully in September.
Fantasy position: Kraft is a high-upside TE2 who can become a weekly TE1 once his snap share stabilizes.
Betting variable: Avoid assuming normal route participation based only on active status. Confirm consecutive full practices and whether Kraft is handling blocking snaps.
Green Bay Packers Offensive-Line Analysis
The expected starting group includes:
- LT Jordan Morgan
- LG Aaron Banks
- C Sean Rhyan
- RG Anthony Belton
- RT Zach Tom
Tom is the line’s most dependable established player. Morgan has first-round talent but has not yet completed a full season as the starting left tackle.
Rhyan’s move to center creates a communication challenge. Belton provides power at right guard, while Banks must remain healthy after dealing with injuries earlier in his career.
The starting five has potential. The depth behind it is less proven.
Green Bay cannot allow protection instability to force Love into predictable quick throws. The offense works best when play action creates time for routes to develop behind linebackers.
Betting variable: Downgrade Packers team totals, Love passing markets and Jacobs rushing efficiency if Morgan or Tom is unavailable or the center transition struggles against pressure.
Jonathan Gannon’s Defensive System
Gannon replaces Jeff Hafley after returning to a coordinator role.
His defense is expected to use:
- Multiple 3-4 fronts
- Zone-heavy coverage
- Split-safety structures
- Simulated pressure
- Disguised rushers
- Flexible linebacker alignments
- Interior line movement
- Selective man coverage
- An emphasis on limiting explosive passes
Gannon’s structure is designed to make quarterbacks hold the ball and identify late movement. That approach becomes much more dangerous when Parsons is healthy enough to win quickly.
Until then, Green Bay must generate pressure through disguise rather than relying on one-on-one dominance.
The transition also requires communication from a secondary that lost several experienced corners.
Micah Parsons and the Packers Pass Rush
Parsons recorded 12.5 sacks and earned first-team All-Pro honors in his first season with Green Bay.
He is now recovering from the torn ACL suffered in December.
Parsons began camp on the PUP list and has publicly targeted a return around Green Bay’s Week 6 matchup with Dallas. The team has not guaranteed that timeline.
His absence changes the entire defense.
Without Parsons, opponents can concentrate protections on Van Ness, Hargrave and the interior rush. Gannon may need to blitz more frequently, exposing the secondary to isolated matchups.
With Parsons, Green Bay can create pressure with four and preserve its two-high coverage structure.
Hargrave, McClellan and Devonte Wyatt provide interior options. Dennis-Sutton is the rookie to monitor on the edge.
Betting variable: Green Bay’s defense should be graded as two different units—without Parsons and after his return. Do not price his name into early-season wagers unless his snap expectation is confirmed.
Packers Linebackers and Secondary
Zaire Franklin replaces Quay Walker as the experienced interior linebacker.
Franklin provides leadership and tackling volume, but Green Bay needs Edgerrin Cooper to become the unit’s primary coverage and pursuit athlete.
The secondary is built around Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams and Keisean Nixon. McKinney remains one of the NFL’s most intelligent safeties and gives Gannon freedom to disguise coverage before the snap.
At cornerback, Cisse, St-Juste, Carrington Valentine and Domani Jackson are competing for roles. The group has length and athleticism but lacks the continuity of Green Bay’s previous secondary.
Early betting angle: Opposing passing markets may be attractive early if Parsons remains out and Green Bay cannot generate pressure without increasing its blitz rate.

Green Bay has an opportunity to start well.
The first eight games include the Jets, Atlanta, Carolina and three divisional matchups. That opening is especially important if Parsons is unavailable until October.
The schedule becomes substantially more difficult after the Week 11 bye. Green Bay travels to face the Rams on a Wednesday, then remains on the road for New Orleans. Buffalo, Miami, Chicago, Houston and Detroit close the season.
Four of the final seven opponents reached at least nine wins last season, and the final three games include unusual Friday, Monday and potentially flexible Week 18 scheduling.
The complete schedule is available through the official Packers schedule page.

Packers Win-Total Analysis
The drop from 10.5 to 9.5 removed much of the early Under value. The expensive Over is also difficult to justify.
Reasons to Consider Over 9.5
- Love has reached the playoffs in all three seasons as the starter
- LaFleur’s offensive system remains intact
- Green Bay ranked in the top 10 in yards per play on both sides
- Golden and Reed can take larger receiving roles
- Jacobs remains an established lead back
- Kraft has returned to practice
- Parsons can transform the defense after returning
- McKinney anchors an intelligent safety group
- The first half of the schedule is manageable
- Green Bay hosts four of its final five games outside Chicago
Reasons to Consider Under 9.5
- Ten victories are required to cash the Over
- Green Bay produced only 9.33 expected wins last season
- The Packers lost 108 starts during the offseason
- Walker and Jenkins are gone from the offensive line
- Doubs and Wicks are gone from the receiving room
- Gary is no longer opposite Parsons
- Parsons has no confirmed return date
- Kraft is returning from a torn ACL
- The cornerback room lacks continuity
- The final seven games are difficult
Pappy’s PlayBook Preseason Position
Pass on both sides at the current price.
The early projection is 9-8, placing Green Bay below the total without creating a full-game advantage.
The Under’s plus-money price is preferable to laying -130 on the Over, but a half-game projection edge is not enough for an official wager.
Price to consider Over 9.5: +110 or better
Price to consider Over 9: -115 or better
Price to consider Under 10: -120 or better
Price to consider Under 9.5: +125 or better
Automatic pass: Significant injury to Love, Tom, Jacobs, Parsons or McKinney
Parsons’ return timeline and the offensive line should determine whether the projection moves before Week 1.
NFC North and Super Bowl Outlook
Green Bay is priced as Detroit’s primary challenger.
The Packers have the quarterback, coach and defensive stars required to win the division. The issue is whether the depth can survive an 18-week schedule.
Green Bay’s division price is more attractive than its expensive win-total Over, but the Packers may need to win at Detroit in Week 7 and again at Lambeau Field in Week 18.
Division price to consider: +300 or better
Make-playoffs price to consider: -125 or better
Miss-playoffs price to consider: +150 or better
NFC price to consider: +1400 or better
Super Bowl price to consider: +3000 or better
Current recommendation: Pass

Weekly Packers Betting Angles to Monitor
Confirm Parsons’ Actual Workload
Returning to practice and playing a full pass-rush workload are different stages. Track snaps, third-down usage and whether Green Bay limits him on early downs.
Evaluate the New Offensive Line
Morgan, Rhyan and Belton are entering new or expanded roles. Pressure rate matters more than reputation during the first month.
Track Kraft’s Route Participation
Kraft’s fantasy and prop value depends on routes, not simply offensive snaps. Blocking-heavy usage would lower his ceiling.
Separate the Receiver Roles
Monitor routes, targets and alignment for Golden, Watson and Reed. Green Bay’s offense can rotate receivers without producing a dependable fantasy hierarchy.
Test Gannon’s Pressure Plan
If Gannon must blitz heavily without Parsons, opposing quarterback and receiver Overs can become relevant.
Adjust for the Schedule Split
Green Bay’s early schedule is more manageable than its closing stretch. Do not apply one strength-of-schedule grade to the entire season.
Respect the Short Weeks
The Packers play Thursday games in Weeks 3 and 8, a Wednesday game in Week 12, a Friday game in Week 16 and a Monday game in Week 17. Recovery patterns matter.
Green Bay Packers Fantasy Football Targets
Best Quarterback Target: Jordan Love
Love offers efficient low-end QB1 upside without requiring an elite-quarterback draft price.
Best Running Back Target: Josh Jacobs
Jacobs retains valuable goal-line volume. His health and offensive line keep him below the safest RB1 tier.
Highest-Upside Receiver: Matthew Golden
Golden has the clearest path to becoming Love’s leading outside target and has already demonstrated big-play ability.
Best Receiver Value: Jayden Reed
Reed’s slot work and manufactured touches can provide weekly value even when Watson and Golden handle more vertical routes.
Player to Draft Carefully: Christian Watson
Watson’s ceiling remains high, but his injury history and target volatility make price discipline essential.
Tight-End Sleeper: Tucker Kraft
Kraft can become a TE1 after his workload normalizes. Managers should not assume full September usage after his ACL recovery.
Running Back Handcuff: MarShawn Lloyd
Lloyd has the strongest upside behind Jacobs if he remains healthy and earns the primary backup role.
Deep-League Target: Savion Williams
Williams offers size and athleticism, but he needs consistent routes before becoming a standard-league option.
Packers Defense and Kicker
Green Bay’s defense should not be drafted as an automatic weekly starter while Parsons’ status is uncertain. The unit becomes considerably more attractive after his full return.
Trey Smack is competing for the kicking job. Avoid spending a fantasy selection until the competition is settled.
Best-Case Scenario
Love produces his most efficient season and Golden emerges as a dependable leading receiver.
Morgan stabilizes left tackle, Rhyan handles the center transition and Jacobs remains healthy.
Parsons returns by October without a meaningful limitation, Gannon creates pressure through multiple fronts and the young corners develop quickly.
In that scenario, Green Bay can win 11 games and take the NFC North.
Worst-Case Scenario
The new offensive line struggles to protect Love and the receiver rotation lacks a dependable first option.
Jacobs misses time, Kraft’s recovery limits his early role and the offense becomes overly dependent on explosive plays.
Parsons’ return is delayed, the defense cannot replace Gary’s pressure and the inexperienced corners are exposed by Gannon’s blitz packages.
In that scenario, the Packers could finish 7-10 or 8-9 and miss the playoffs.
Final Green Bay Packers 2026 Prediction
Green Bay remains a credible playoff contender.
Love and LaFleur provide offensive stability, while Parsons and McKinney give the defense elite talent at premium positions. Golden, Reed, Watson, Jacobs and Kraft form a versatile supporting group when healthy.
The concern is the number of assumptions required.
The offensive line must succeed with multiple players in new roles. Kraft must complete his recovery. Parsons must return without a major limitation. Gannon must rebuild the defense after losing Gary, Walker and several defensive backs.
Projected record: 9-8
Projected finish: Second or third in NFC North
Playoff outlook: Competing for a Wild Card position
Current futures recommendation: Pass
Early win-total lean: Under 9.5, but only at +125 or better
Green Bay can exceed this projection if its stars remain healthy. At -125 to -130, the Over asks bettors to pay a premium for 10 victories before the roster’s largest questions have been answered.

Green Bay Packers 2026 FAQ
What is the Packers’ 2026 win total?
Green Bay’s current regular-season win total is 9.5 games. The Over is carrying a considerably more expensive price than the Under.
Who is the Packers’ defensive coordinator?
Jonathan Gannon replaces Jeff Hafley. His defense is expected to feature multiple fronts, zone-heavy coverage and simulated pressure.
When will Micah Parsons return?
Parsons is recovering from a torn ACL and began camp on the PUP list. He has targeted a return around Week 6, but the Packers have not guaranteed that date.
Is Jordan Love a good fantasy quarterback?
Yes. Love is a high-end QB2 with low-end QB1 upside. His limited rushing production and Green Bay’s balanced offense reduce his weekly ceiling.
Is Josh Jacobs healthy?
Jacobs missed an August practice with a groin injury that is not currently considered serious. His participation should still be monitored before drafting or betting his markets.
Who is Green Bay’s No. 1 receiver?
No receiver has secured a traditional target-dominant role. Matthew Golden has the clearest path, while Christian Watson and Jayden Reed remain important.
Is Tucker Kraft ready for Week 1?
Kraft has returned to practice after his ACL injury. His snap and route workload must be confirmed before assuming a full Week 1 role.
Who is the best Packers fantasy sleeper?
Kraft is the best tight-end sleeper, while Savion Williams is the preferred deep-league receiver target.
Should bettors take Over 9.5 wins?
Not at -125 or worse. The 9-8 projection does not support laying an expensive price for a bet that requires 10 wins.
