Philadelphia Eagles 2026 Season Preview: Betting and Fantasy Football Outlook

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2026 NFL season as a legitimate playoff contender—but not the same team that won Super Bowl LIX two seasons ago.

Philadelphia finished 11-6 and won the NFC East in 2025 before suffering a disappointing 23-19 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round. The defense remained one of the NFL’s strongest units, but an inconsistent offense prevented the Eagles from repeating their championship run.

That offensive disappointment led to another coordinator change. Former Green Bay quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion replaces Kevin Patullo and will become Philadelphia’s fifth offensive coordinator in five seasons.

The roster also changed considerably. A.J. Brown was traded to New England, DeVonta Smith became the clear No. 1 receiver, and Philadelphia added several new pass catchers. The defense lost multiple starters but still features elite young talent in Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

This Philadelphia Eagles 2026 season preview examines the current roster, coaching changes, schedule, betting odds and fantasy-football value bettors and fans should understand before Week 1.

The Eagles remain talented enough to win the NFC East and challenge for another conference championship. The concern is whether the market is asking bettors to pay for Philadelphia’s reputation before its new offense proves it can operate consistently.

What Happened to the Eagles in 2025?

Philadelphia’s 11-6 record and division championship were respectable, but the season felt disappointing because the Eagles entered the year as defending Super Bowl champions.

The defense allowed only 19.1 points per game, fifth fewest in the NFL. The offense averaged 22.3 points and finished 19th after ranking inside the top seven in each of the previous three seasons.

Philadelphia also ranked 19th in yards per play and produced only 5.1 yards per offensive snap. The passing game averaged 194.3 yards per game, while the running game fell to 116.9 yards per game after dominating the league during the championship season.

The offense remained extremely effective near the goal line. Philadelphia finished first in red-zone touchdown percentage at 70.2%. The problem was reaching the red zone consistently enough.

The Eagles began the year 8-2 but lost three consecutive games after Lane Johnson’s injury disrupted the offensive line. They eventually recovered and secured another NFC East championship, but the offensive inconsistency returned during the playoff loss.

Philadelphia completed the season 10-8 against the spread, including its Wild Card loss. That record was profitable, but the Eagles underperformed the point spread by an average of approximately 1.5 points per game.

The 2025 Eagles were still good. They simply were not as efficient or explosive as their record and championship reputation suggested.

Major Philadelphia Eagles Offseason Changes

The complete list of Philadelphia’s additions and departures is available through the team’s official 2026 Eagles free-agency tracker.

Important Additions

  • WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown
  • WR Dontayvion Wicks
  • WR Elijah Moore
  • WR Makai Lemon, first-round draft pick
  • TE Eli Stowers, second-round draft pick
  • QB Andy Dalton
  • RB Dameon Pierce
  • RB Elijah Mitchell
  • EDGE Jonathan Greenard
  • EDGE Arnold Ebiketie
  • EDGE A.J. Epenesa
  • CB Riq Woolen
  • CB Jonathan Jones
  • OT Markel Bell, third-round draft pick

Important Departures

  • WR A.J. Brown
  • WR Jahan Dotson
  • LB Nakobe Dean
  • S Reed Blankenship
  • S Sydney Brown
  • EDGE Jaelan Phillips
  • EDGE Azeez Ojulari
  • EDGE Joshua Uche
  • TE Kylen Granson
  • QB Sam Howell
  • OC Kevin Patullo

The A.J. Brown trade is the most important change.

Brown provided size, physicality and proven production outside the numbers. Philadelphia attempted to replace him through several different players instead of expecting one receiver to duplicate everything he provided.

DeVonta Smith becomes the leading receiver. Wicks offers size and blocking ability, Hollywood Brown provides vertical speed, and first-round selection Makai Lemon can work from the slot and create yards after the catch.

That approach gives Mannion several different skill sets. It also creates uncertainty surrounding playing time, target distribution and early-season chemistry.

How Sean Mannion Could Change the Eagles Offense

Sean Mannion becomes a first-time NFL offensive coordinator after spending two seasons on Green Bay’s staff. He worked as an offensive assistant in 2024 and the Packers’ quarterbacks coach in 2025.

Mannion has discussed combining his background with concepts that already fit Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia’s personnel. Early indications suggest the offense could incorporate more movement, quicker decisions and better-defined answers against pressure.

The potential improvements include:

  • More pre-snap motion
  • Greater formation diversity
  • More play-action passing
  • Easier completions over the middle
  • Better spacing against zone coverage
  • More involvement for running backs and tight ends
  • Fewer predictable early-down concepts
  • A more varied rushing attack

This could help Hurts avoid being forced into difficult, late-down situations.

Mannion’s previous relationship with Dontayvion Wicks is also relevant. Wicks spent his first three NFL seasons in Green Bay and entered training camp with familiarity with some of the terminology and passing concepts.

However, Mannion has never called plays during an NFL regular-season game. Bettors should not automatically assume Philadelphia’s offensive problems disappeared because the team changed coordinators.

The opening month will reveal how quickly Mannion adjusts his game plan, sequences plays and responds after opposing defenses take away his preferred concepts.

Read our guide to how coaching styles affect football betting for more on offensive pace, fourth-down decisions and in-game adjustments.

Jalen Hurts’ 2026 Outlook

Jalen Hurts completed 64.8% of his passes for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. He added 605 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

The passing volume was modest, but Hurts continued to protect the football and create elite fantasy production near the goal line.

Hurts now faces another offensive transition and must adjust to life without A.J. Brown. The new receiver group may provide greater variety, but Philadelphia no longer has the same proven physical target capable of taking over games against man coverage.

Reasons for Optimism

  • One of the NFL’s strongest offensive lines
  • Elite rushing value at quarterback
  • Excellent red-zone efficiency
  • DeVonta Smith assuming a larger role
  • More receiving depth than the roster had immediately after the Brown trade
  • Potentially more motion and easier completions
  • Five consecutive playoff appearances with Hurts and Sirianni

Reasons for Concern

  • Fifth offensive coordinator in five seasons
  • Loss of a proven No. 1 outside receiver
  • Several pass catchers learning new roles
  • Limited evidence of Mannion’s play-calling ability
  • Dependence on rushing touchdowns for elite fantasy production
  • Lane Johnson’s health and age

Hurts does not need to become a 4,500-yard passer for Philadelphia to succeed. He needs to improve the offense’s consistency between the 20-yard lines while maintaining his efficiency in the red zone.

Betting outlook: Hurts remains difficult to fade in short-yardage and red-zone markets, but bettors should monitor Mannion’s early play-calling before assuming the passing offense will immediately improve.

Fantasy outlook: Hurts remains a high-end QB1. His rushing production gives him top-five upside even if Philadelphia remains outside the league leaders in pass attempts.

Saquon Barkley’s 2026 Outlook

Saquon Barkley followed his historic 2024 season with 1,140 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on 280 carries. He also caught 37 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

His overall production declined, but Barkley still surpassed 1,400 scrimmage yards despite the offense and offensive line experiencing significant problems.

Philadelphia enters 2026 with Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson anchoring the line. Tyler Steen is positioned to return at right guard, while third-round rookie Markel Bell offers developmental tackle depth.

If the offensive line remains healthy, Barkley should receive another large workload.

The concern is age and accumulated touches. Barkley is entering his ninth NFL season and handled 317 offensive touches in 2025 after receiving 378 during the championship season.

Philadelphia has enough depth to reduce some of that workload. Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Elijah Mitchell are competing for complementary roles.

Fantasy outlook: Barkley remains an RB1, but fantasy managers should not pay for another version of his 2,000-yard 2024 season. He is more attractive near the end of the first round or beginning of the second than as a top-three overall selection.

Fantasy handcuff: Bigsby has generated positive training-camp reports and is the backup worth monitoring most closely. The final preseason rotation should determine whether Bigsby or Shipley becomes the preferred Barkley handcuff.

Eagles Wide Receiver Outlook

The Eagles’ receiver room underwent the largest transformation on the roster.

Only DeVonta Smith and Darius Cooper were on Philadelphia’s initial 53-man roster last season. The team added Lemon, Wicks, Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore and several developmental options.

DeVonta Smith

Smith caught 77 passes for 1,008 yards and four touchdowns last season. He has now exceeded 1,000 yards in three of his first five NFL seasons.

A.J. Brown’s departure creates a path to the largest target share of Smith’s career. He can win outside, separate against man coverage and attack zone defenses from different alignments.

Smith was sidelined during early August practices with a hamstring injury. The team has time before Week 1, but fantasy managers should monitor his participation throughout the preseason.

Fantasy position: Smith should be drafted as a strong WR2 with potential to finish as a lower-end WR1 if his target volume increases substantially.

Makai Lemon

Philadelphia traded up to select Lemon with the 20th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Lemon projects as a polished slot receiver who can operate on crossing routes, find space against zone coverage and create after the catch. The Eagles used him in pre-snap motion and short-area concepts during the opening training-camp practices.

He has also dealt with a hamstring problem during the offseason and missed time early in camp. Those lost repetitions matter for a rookie learning a new offense.

Fantasy position: Lemon offers upside, but his current injury and uncertain snap share make him a mid-to-late-round selection rather than an immediate weekly starter.

Dontayvion Wicks

Wicks may be Philadelphia’s most interesting fantasy sleeper.

He already understands elements of Mannion’s offensive background, can line up in multiple locations and offers value as a run blocker. Wicks has also received extensive work with Hurts while Smith and Lemon have been unavailable.

Drops have been an issue during his career, but Wicks has the opportunity to earn a significant early-season role.

Fantasy position: Wicks is a worthwhile late-round selection in deeper leagues. His value rises considerably if Lemon continues to miss practice or Wicks secures the primary outside role.

Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore

Hollywood Brown supplies the speed needed to stretch defenses vertically. His weekly target volume may fluctuate, making him more attractive in best-ball formats than traditional leagues.

Moore can play multiple receiver positions and offers experience, but he faces a crowded competition for snaps.

Both receivers are capable of producing occasional strong performances. Neither should be drafted as a dependable weekly fantasy starter until the rotation becomes clearer.

Dallas Goedert and the Eagles Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert caught 60 passes for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns last season.

The touchdown total made him a productive fantasy starter, but it is unlikely to repeat without increased receiving volume. Goedert had scored 24 total touchdowns over his first seven seasons before scoring 11 in 2025.

Philadelphia also drafted Eli Stowers in the second round and re-signed Grant Calcaterra. Stowers gives Mannion an athletic receiving option who can line up in different formations, but rookie tight ends often require time to become complete NFL players.

Fantasy position: Goedert remains a low-end TE1, particularly in touchdown-friendly formats. Fantasy managers should avoid paying for another 11-touchdown season.

Dynasty position: Stowers is the more attractive long-term asset and could eventually succeed Goedert as Philadelphia’s primary receiving tight end.

Eagles Offensive Line Analysis

Philadelphia’s offensive line remains the foundation of the team.

The projected starting lineup includes:

  • LT Jordan Mailata
  • LG Landon Dickerson
  • C Cam Jurgens
  • RG Tyler Steen
  • RT Lane Johnson

Mailata has developed into one of the NFL’s best left tackles. Dickerson has earned three Pro Bowl selections, while Jurgens has made consecutive Pro Bowls at center.

Johnson remains an elite right tackle when healthy. His absence late last season coincided with Philadelphia’s three-game losing streak and exposed the importance of the depth behind him.

The Eagles used a third-round selection on Markel Bell and added additional developmental linemen. Those investments matter because Johnson is entering the later stage of his career.

For bettors, Philadelphia’s offensive-line availability should remain a final-lock requirement. The Eagles are much more trustworthy as a favorite when Mailata, Dickerson, Jurgens and Johnson are all available.

Vic Fangio’s 2026 Defense

Vic Fangio returns for his third season as defensive coordinator.

His system emphasizes split-safety structures, disguised coverages and preventing explosive plays. Fangio generally prefers creating pressure through alignment and matchup advantages instead of depending exclusively on heavy blitzing.

Philadelphia still has an elite defensive core:

  • DT Jalen Carter
  • DT Jordan Davis
  • LB Zack Baun
  • CB Quinyon Mitchell
  • DB Cooper DeJean

Carter is the centerpiece. His ability to generate pressure from the interior can disrupt an opponent without Fangio sacrificing additional defenders in coverage.

Mitchell and DeJean have already developed into first-team All-Pro defensive backs. DeJean will play safety in some base formations before moving into the slot when Philadelphia uses its nickel package.

That versatility makes the Eagles difficult to identify before the snap.

Defensive Line and Edge-Rusher Outlook

Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo give Philadelphia an excellent interior defensive line.

The uncertainty is on the edge.

The Eagles lost Jaelan Phillips, Azeez Ojulari, Joshua Uche and several other rotational players. They responded by adding Jonathan Greenard, Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa while retaining Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt.

Greenard is the most important addition. He recorded at least 12 sacks in both 2023 and 2024 before falling to three sacks last season. If he returns to his previous form, Philadelphia’s pass rush could remain dangerous.

Hunt has also drawn positive reports during camp and could become one of the defense’s breakout players.

The edge rotation has potential, but it is not as proven as the secondary or interior defensive line. That should be monitored before betting Philadelphia against quarterbacks capable of extending plays.

Linebacker and Secondary Outlook

Zack Baun remains the leader of the linebacker group, but Nakobe Dean’s departure creates an important competition beside him.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Jihaad Campbell and Smael Mondon Jr. are among the players competing for roles. Campbell’s athleticism creates considerable upside if he takes a developmental step in his second season.

The secondary may still be Philadelphia’s best position group.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean provide two elite young building blocks. The Eagles also added former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen and veteran Jonathan Jones.

Safety is less settled following the departures of Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown. Marcus Epps returned and is competing for playing time, while DeJean will play safety in base personnel. Rookie Andrew Mukuba has also generated positive training-camp reports.

Fangio has enough versatility to create solutions, but communication at safety will be an early-season betting variable.

The schedule contains several favorable stretches, but its unusual travel and rest situations matter.

Philadelphia plays in London during Week 5 and then returns home to face Carolina. It plays three consecutive division games from Weeks 7 through 9 before the bye.

The late schedule includes a Thanksgiving game in Dallas, a Saturday game against Seattle and a Thursday Christmas Eve game against Houston. Philadelphia then travels across the country for a prime-time rematch with San Francisco.

Bettors should not evaluate those games using opponent strength alone. Travel, preparation time and accumulated injuries will become meaningful.

Philadelphia Eagles 2026 Betting Odds

As of early August, available futures prices vary considerably by sportsbook.

MarketCurrent general range
Regular-season win total10.5
Over 10.5Approximately +115
Under 10.5Approximately -140
Make playoffsApproximately -185
Win NFC EastApproximately +115 to +125
Win NFCApproximately +800
Win Super Bowl LXIApproximately +1400 to +1800

These numbers should be treated as a market snapshot, not permanent prices. Compare sportsbooks before placing a futures wager.

Eagles Win-Total Analysis

A total of 10.5 requires Philadelphia to win at least 11 games for an Over ticket to cash.

The Eagles have won at least 11 games in four consecutive seasons. They also have a manageable schedule and enough core talent to remain one of the NFC’s strongest teams.

However, the 2025 Eagles produced an estimated Pythagorean expectation of approximately 10 wins. The offense ranked in the middle of the league, the team changed coordinators again, and the roster experienced meaningful turnover.

Reasons to Consider the Over

  • Four consecutive seasons with at least 11 wins
  • Five straight playoff appearances under Sirianni and Hurts
  • Favorable projected schedule
  • Elite offensive-line talent
  • Strong defensive interior
  • One of the NFL’s best secondaries
  • Potential offensive improvement under Mannion
  • Six games against an unsettled NFC East

Reasons to Consider the Under

  • A.J. Brown is no longer on the roster
  • First-time offensive play caller
  • Significant edge-rusher turnover
  • Unsettled safety situation
  • Several difficult late-season games
  • Lane Johnson remains essential to the offense
  • An 11-win projection leaves almost no margin above 10.5
  • Under 10.5 is currently too expensive

Pappy’s PlayBook Preseason Position

Pass at the current market.

Our early projection is 11-6, which would barely cash an Over 10.5 ticket. That is not enough separation to make Over 10.5 at approximately +115 an official preseason wager.

The Under may appear attractive because of the roster turnover, but laying approximately -140 on a season-long market creates poor risk-to-reward value.

Price to reconsider Over 10.5: +120 or better
Preferred alternative: Over 10 wins at reasonable juice
Under consideration: Only if Under 10.5 becomes available close to -110
Automatic pass: Significant injuries to Hurts, Mailata, Dickerson, Jurgens or Johnson before Week 1

This is a market to monitor rather than force.

NFC East and Super Bowl Outlook

Philadelphia deserves to be favored or closely priced with the favorite in the NFC East, but +115 offers limited value for a season-long wager before the division’s remaining teams have been completely evaluated.

The Eagles have the division’s strongest recent résumé, but Washington, Dallas and New York all create different matchup concerns.

Philadelphia’s Super Bowl price is more interesting if it reaches the upper end of the available range. The Eagles have a championship quarterback, elite line play and a defense capable of competing with the NFC’s best teams.

At +1400, the price may be too short considering the offensive uncertainty. At +1800 or better, Philadelphia becomes a more reasonable contender to monitor.

That does not make the Eagles an automatic Super Bowl bet. Futures capital will be tied up for months, and the team must prove it can replace Brown while integrating Mannion’s offense.

Weekly Eagles Betting Angles to Monitor

Avoid Blindly Laying Large Spreads

Philadelphia’s offense was efficient near the goal line but inconsistent between the 20s last season. Until the passing game proves it can create more explosive plays, the Eagles may struggle to cover inflated spreads against disciplined opponents.

Monitor the Offensive Line

Philadelphia’s betting value changes considerably when Johnson or multiple interior linemen are unavailable. Always confirm the offensive line before betting the Eagles, Barkley rushing props or Hurts rushing-touchdown markets.

Watch the Safety Rotation

The secondary has elite talent, but the safety combination is not settled. Communication mistakes could create early-season opportunities for opposing tight ends and slot receivers.

Evaluate Mannion’s Second-Half Adjustments

Philadelphia’s offense frequently became conservative or ineffective after halftime in 2025. Mannion’s ability to adjust when opponents change coverages will be an important indicator during the opening weeks.

Account for Travel

The London game, Thanksgiving trip, short-week Houston matchup and late flight to San Francisco all deserve schedule adjustments. Do not handicap those games like ordinary Sunday matchups.

Respect Philadelphia in the Red Zone

The combination of Hurts, Barkley and Philadelphia’s offensive line continues to make the Eagles dangerous near the goal line. Red-zone efficiency can support team totals and individual touchdown markets even when the offense produces modest yardage.

Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Football Targets

Best High-End Target: Jalen Hurts

Hurts’ rushing ability gives him one of the safest weekly floors at quarterback. He remains a strong selection once the elite running backs and receivers are gone.

Best Receiver Target: DeVonta Smith

Smith should lead Philadelphia in targets and receiving yards. Draft him as a WR2 while recognizing that he possesses WR1 upside if the offense becomes more pass-friendly.

Best Value Target: Dontayvion Wicks

Wicks is inexpensive, has experience with Mannion’s background and has generated positive reports during camp. His fantasy value will rise if he wins a starting role.

Best Rookie Target: Makai Lemon

Lemon has a realistic path to significant slot usage, but his hamstring and lost practice time must be monitored. He offers more upside than immediate certainty.

Player to Draft Carefully: Saquon Barkley

Barkley remains an RB1. The warning is about acquisition cost, not ability. Drafting him near the first-round turn is different from expecting him to repeat his historic 2024 production as a top-three pick.

Touchdown-Regression Candidate: Dallas Goedert

Goedert can remain a useful fantasy tight end, but his 11 touchdowns from last season are unlikely to repeat without a major increase in targets.

Deep-League Player to Watch: Tank Bigsby

Bigsby becomes extremely valuable if Barkley misses time and may earn a weekly complementary role even when Barkley is available.

Defense and Kicker Outlook

Philadelphia’s defense remains draftable because of its pass rush and turnover-producing secondary. Difficult matchups against the Rams, Jaguars, Texans and 49ers may still require fantasy managers to stream selectively.

Jake Elliott converted only 20 of 27 field-goal attempts last season. He should be treated as a streaming kicker until his accuracy improves.

Best-Case Scenario

Mannion modernizes the offense, Hurts becomes more efficient against zone coverage and Smith successfully handles the No. 1 receiver role.

Lemon develops quickly, Wicks becomes a dependable complementary option and Barkley benefits from a healthier offensive line. Greenard returns to double-digit sack form while the young safety group develops without damaging the defense.

In that scenario, Philadelphia could win 12 or 13 games, capture the NFC East and challenge for the No. 1 seed.

Worst-Case Scenario

The new passing game takes too long to develop, Lemon’s injury limits his early progress and opposing defenses focus their coverage on Smith.

Johnson or another important lineman misses extended time, reducing the effectiveness of both Barkley and the passing game. The reworked edge rotation fails to produce consistent pressure, and communication problems at safety allow more explosive plays.

In that scenario, Philadelphia could finish near 9-8 and compete for a Wild Card position rather than the division title.

Final Philadelphia Eagles 2026 Prediction

The Eagles remain one of the NFC’s most complete teams, but they enter the season with more uncertainty than their recent record suggests.

The offensive line, defensive tackles and cornerbacks provide an elite foundation. Hurts, Barkley and Smith give the offense enough proven skill talent to remain productive.

Mannion’s play-calling, the new receiver rotation and the reconstructed edge group will determine whether Philadelphia is simply a playoff team or a genuine Super Bowl contender.

Projected record: 11-6

Projected finish: Competing for first place in the NFC East

Playoff outlook: Likely playoff team

Current futures recommendation: Pass at the available prices

The Eagles are good enough to win 11 games, but an 11-win projection does not provide enough room to force Over 10.5. Weekly matchup betting may offer better value than committing to an expensive futures position before the new offense has played together.
